The BORBET history
1881: Gustav Borbet founded Borbet as a brass foundry in Altena/Westphalia.
1928: Wilhelm Borbet expanded production to include aluminium sand casting.
1962: Peter Wilhelm Borbet established today’s company headquarters in Hallenberg-Hesborn/Hochsauerland. Production of sand casts, die casts and low pressure die casts.
1977: Start of production of light alloy wheels.
1989: Acquisition of CW-Fahrzeugtechnik in Niederneuching near Munich.
1996: Acquisition of Austria Aluguss in Ranshofen/Austria.
1998: Construction and start-up of the 1st stage of construction of the factory in Medebach/Hochsauerland.
2001: Completion of the 2nd construction stage.
2001: Acquisition of Kronprinz Aluguss in Solingen.
2003: Construction and start-up of the factory Bad Langensalza/Thüringen.
2003: Acquisition of AWI South Africa in Port Elizabeth, today Borbet South Africa.
2008-06-23: Acquisition of the former ATS in Alabama. It is now part of the Borbet Group.
2010: Change of the companies name from CW Fahrzeugtechnik to the Borbet Vertriebs GmbH
