Biathlon
Steffen BartscherAs of now, BORBET is sponsoring another young talent: Steffen Bartscher, a biathlete. The 18-year-old comes from Olsberg-Bruchhausen and is on his way to the very top. He has completed his A-levels and is a six-time overall champion in the German Student Cup and German Cup. His first international success came in February 2009 at the EYOF held in Slask Beskidy, Poland.
Peter Wilhelm Borbet, owner of the internationally successful aluminium wheel manufacturer, knows that, “In order to be successful in sports, you need dynamic, ambition, endurance and the will to win.” “BORBET can identify with this, as we believe in competing fairly to be the best; that's why we sponsor aspiring young athletes.”
Steffen Bartscher has already been named Athlete of the Year three times in the Hochsauerland District. With support from BORBET, he can continue to build on his successes in the future. His plan: “Next I'd like to take part in the junior world championships and of course later try my hand at the World Cup events.”

Carolin Leunig
She is young, ambitious and successful. Carolin Leunig is a hopeful young biathlon talent who has made a name for herself with exceptional performances. “Quiet and shy” is how the attractive athlete describes the private “Caro”. There's no trace of that in competition, however: Carolin Leunig trains hard and with endurance to reach her dream of standing at the top of the victor's stand.
“A phenomenal runner with a fighter's soul in the cross-country run” is a rough sketch of her athletic profile. This is evident not only in her remarkable skills, but also in her top competition results. In the Slovakian city of Nove Mesto in 2011, she was the best German competitor in the Junior World Championship in sixth place in the solo race and third place in the relay race. She made it to second place in the comprehensive score for the German Cup in 2010/2011, and the aspiring biathlete even scored first place in the comprehensive score at the Alp Cup. She was bestowed a special honour in her home district of Oberharz thanks to her remarkable achievements: she was named “Athlete of the Year 2010”. Her future goals for the sport are more medals at the next junior world championships in 2012 in Finland as well as entry into the world cup events.
Despite her success, this exceptional athlete from Clausthal-Zellerfeld remains humble and besides sports is pursuing career goals. Over the course of four years, she will complete her police enforcement officer training at the federal police academy in Bad Endorf.
Bobsled Sports
Sandra KiriasisOlympic bobsled gold medallist Sandra Kiriasis from Winterberg, Germany, has been sponsored by lightweight metal wheel manufacturer BORBET since the start of the past 2010/2011 world cup season. You'll find the company colours and BORBET logo on both sides of this 36-year-old sport veteran's high-tech bobsled named Firebolt.
Since 2000 this bobsled athlete has raced through icy bobsled runs around the world at up to 140 km/h. Kiriasis has obtained many other international wins besides Olympic silver and gold medals.
Last year, together with pusher Berit Wiacker, she won the European championship title in Winterberg with a new track record. Another of her great wins was taking the ninth overall world cup.
This year's team includes Stefanie Schneider from Oberhof and Petra Lammerts (formerly Kugelstoßerin) from Potsdam.
Anja Schneiderheinze
After ending her career as a speed skater in 2001, Anja Schneiderheinze switched over to bobsledding. Her career started as a pusher in the Kiriasis team, where they won Olympic gold in 2006. Anja's career as a bobsled pilot began in 2007. She went on to the European cup, where she dominated the top for three years as overall champion.

Since the 2010/2011 season, she has been in the Top 3 in German women's bobsledding and has managed a spot in the world cup team. She has already gained valuable experience this past season and has taken her first spots on the podium. She started the 2011/2012 season at the top with a win at the opening race for the world cup in Igls, Austria.
In her team were pushers Christin Senkel, who is already very seasoned, and the newcomer Lisette Töne. All three start for BSC Winterberg.
Maximilian Arndt
The drive to be one of the best is shared by young athletes and success-oriented companies alike. That’s why sport sponsorship is such a high priority for BORBET GmbH. Not only does BORBET feel itself attached to its native region in the German Sauerland area, which is also repeatedly home to promising sporting talents, the company also supports ambitious and talented young sportsmen and women in Thuringia, where BORBET has a plant in Bad Langensalza. Bobsled athlete Maximilian Arndt is the young talent currently sponsored by the aluminium wheel manufacturer. This 24-year-old up and coming pilot started for the BSR Rennsteig Oberhof club and is considered the top newcomer: his team recently scored gold in the 4-person and silver in the 2-person at the European championship in Altenberg and thereby the first victory in the world cup. Amongst Maximilian Arndt’s bobsled crew are two pushers who previously worked with bobsled legend André Lange: Martin Putze and Alexander Rödiger. Jan-Martin Speer, René Tiefert, Gregor Bermbach and Marko Hübenbecker make up the rest of this aspiring team. BORBET GmbH has supported this successful bobsled team since December 2011; along with biathlete Marion Thees it has thereby added another promising figure from Thuringia in its athletic sponsorship squad.
Skeleton Sports
Sandro StielickeBefore the 2008/2009 season, Sandro Stielicke already participated in the European Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, but he was not classified as one of the top skeleton riders internationally. At the start of the 2008/2009 season, he surprisingly qualified for the World Cup series and for the World Championship 2009. In 2009, he became Junior World Champion in Königssee. With three second places and one third place in the overall standing, he has again achieved outstanding success in the World Cup season 2009/2010. With his participation in the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver, he has reached one of his greatest goals, and he has mastered this mega sports event with an excellent tenth place.
Marion Thees
Marion Thees is the new face in the gallery of athletes that are being sponsored by BORBET. The 27 year-old comes from Eisenach and has been an active skeleton sledge driver since 2001. “I started with apparatus gymnastics at the age of four“, said the ambitious winter sportswoman when looking back at the start of her career. “That was before we had a luge project at school which I was quite enthusiastic about and that it is how I came to skeleton sledging.“
After kicking off with skeleton sledging, Marion Thees was soon able to celebrate her first successes such as Junior World Champion (2007), World Champion in the singles and team disciplines (2009), Overall World Cup Winner 2008/09, European Vice-Champion 2009 and the 8th place at the Winter Olympics just to mention a few. Her latest title is the winner of the World Championships at Königsee in February 2011.
The sports student has set herself an ambitious goal. Marion Thees: “My greatest long-term goal is to win an Olympics medal at Sochi in 2014, and until then I will always get the optimum out of every race.“
Jacqueline Lölling
Ambition, discipline and the will to be one of the best, is what characterises young and successful top-class athletes such as Jacqueline Lölling. The 16 year-old junior talent is the current junior German champion in addition to her belonging to the group of exceptional skeleton bob athletes. She has been sponsored by the light alloy wheels manufacturer BORBET from Medebach, Germany since November 2011. “A fair competition in order to gain a top position is very appropriate to us and that is why we support emerging junior sporting talent as early as possible” is the reason given by Peter Wilhelm Borbet for the decision made by the company to support another promising sporting talent in the person of Jacqueline Lölling.
Her fast starts and good driving position resulted in the skeleton bob driver that starts for the RSG Hochsauerland sports club winning all of the qualifications that are required for the Youth Olympic Games 2012 in Innsbruck in addition to her having the best chances of being able to enjoy additional successes.
