New sleighs for the start of the winter season in Winterberg

The athletes and organisers of the BSC Winterberg met up last Sunday, just in time for the start of the winter season, on the BORBET grounds in Medebach. Hesborn, 29.09.2009. A number of important people of the German bob-, skeleton- and toboggan sports joined up for a pleasant "come together" on the BORBET company grounds in Medebach, the day before the official opening of the Winterberg bobsled run. This was however not the only reason for the official "come together".

The Olympic gold medalist 2006 and Europa-Cup-winner 2008 and 2009, Anja Schneiderheinze-Stöckel and her team awaited a pleasant surprise: The official handover of their new bobsled, developed and built from the institute for research and development of sports equipment (FES) in Berlin, ans sponsored through the Borbet Group.

It was an unusual picture for the spectators on the BORBET company grounds on Sunday last. Where during the week BORBET light alloy wheels, still warm from the production, are packed and loaded onto trucks for shipment all over the world, on this named afternoon two brand new racing bobsleds, with striking BORBET lettering and eye catching images of the new BORBET Brushed wheels, were the main attraction. The reason for this unusual arrangement was the official handover of the two new bobsleds to the potential Olympic participant Anja Schneiderheinze-Stöckel and the BORBET sponsored taxi bob of the Olympic Bob Race GbR.

The athletes showed enthusiasm and were satisfied with the design, which presented two BORBET alloy wheels on both sides of the bobsled, and these were placed so perfectly that one could almost imagine that the sled was suitable for the road.

Furthermore many other German Olympic team members were present, Olympic gold medallist in 4-man bobsled, André Lange from Oberhof and the BSC-athlete Matthias Höpfner, who was third in the 4-man-bob world championshio in 2008 as well as skeleton pilot Sandro Stielicke who was junior world champion in 2009 and sixth in the world championchips 2009. Corinna Martini who apart from her participation in the toboggan world championships 2009 also achieved good results in the world-cup races in Winterberg, Oberhof and Altenberg, was also to be seen on the BORBET company grounds. All the athletes are expected to qualify for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010.

Several members of the board of directors of the Winterberg BSC were also present, the chairman Alois Schnurbus as well as Manfred Schulte, Christel Martini, Rolf Dauber, Diane Koch and Norbert Müller and last but not least the sports trainer René Spies.

The company was founded in 1962 in the "Sauerland" and belongs to the worldwide leading alloy wheel manufacturers, serving well-known automobile manufacturers. Apart from the mainquarters in Hesborn, BORBET is situated nationally and internationally employing approx. 2.600 people. The designs of the approx. 2.000 various range of products made by BORBET reaches from eye-catching over sporty and dynamic up to classic and noble. BORBET has sponsored the bob- and toboggan club Sauerland Winterberg for over 30 years.
