The new BORBET AD STAR 2010/2011 is set
As always – in the meanwhile it is the third event of its kind - 10 tuned vehicles awaited the final decision this time around at the My Car auto fair in Dortmund.
The participants came from all over Germany and Austria to present their vehicles over all four fair days.
At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, 12 November, the jury met at the 550-square-meter Borbet stand to inspect the participants’ vehicles, including lovingly tuned classics like a BMW E36 or a Golf III convertible, an elegant Audi TT, as well as seldom seen equipped versions of cars like the Hyundai Accent or a Trabant.
The respective car owners were ready to answer the jury’s questions.
The jury consisted of: Carsten Hesse (Borbet Radcarsten), Thomas Schröder (Borbet area sales leader and a hardcore tuning enthusiast), Mike Lipinski (ML Design, one of the tuning experts in the Ruhrgebiet area), Linda Totzauer (Borbet Ad Star 2009, Battenberg, Germany), Harry Hoffmann (Hoffmann Fachverlag Auto Zubehör & News publishing), and Stefan Martern (Delius Klasing VW Speed).
After intense, heated debate, the top three finalists were chosen.
The champion is Doris Zanotti from Salzburg, Austria with an absolute eye catcher: an original Austin Mini from 1972. Doris publishes the Schrauberzeitschrift im Netz web journal at www.supper-mini.com. Together with her fiancée Norbert Supper at the fair, this couple owns 7 individually tuned Minis (old series) ranging from 1966 to 1999! They entered the competition with a vehicle that included the original paint (diamond white) and was additionally adorned with pink-coloured elements (motor, car hi-fi components, roof, as well as pink leather interior). The entire interior was made in England, where the couple visited in 2009 to meet on the occasion of the Mini’s 50th anniversary in Birmingham.
Further details about the winning vehicle:
1300cc motor, double + adjustable KENT timing chain, dual valve spring, expanded intake ports, Fiat Pink 131 paint, 10-inch brake system, etc. (More information will arrive in a Word document in an email from the winner!)
Thomas Klink of Alsdorf, Germany got second place with a Toyota Yaris, which he personally completely rebuilt. Michael Kees from Hahnstätten, Germany took third place with his Golf III convertible.
The winning vehicle can be seen in 2011 at the Tuning World Bodensee on Lake Constance in Friedrichshafen, where the final decision for the BORBET AD STAR 2011 will take place. The deadline for applications to be the new Ad Star is 31 March 2011. You can submit your application at www.borbet-werbestar.de
