The BORBET company, a tradition in the Sauerland region of Germany, has supported bobsled and sledging sports in Winterberg for over 30 years.
The paths of the BSC Winterberg bobsled club and the lightweight metal wheel producer initially crossed in 1978, shortly after the new artificial ice bobsled run opened. After speaking with the head of the BSC Winterberg, Peter Wilhelm Borbet decided on the spot to donate a new four-person bobsled to the club. The concept of sport sponsorship was born. Since that time, BORBET has supported the bobsled run and the BSC Winterberg, contributing to the fact that it is one of the leading bobsled and sledge sport clubs worldwide.

In addition to sponsoring the BSC Winterberg run and club, BORBET also sponsors other individual athletes and teams, such as rising skeleton star Jacqueline Löllig (RSG Hochsauerland) or the reigning world skeleton champion Marion Thees (from the German state of Thüringen). Its team sponsorship currently includes the successful women's bobsled teams of Anja Schneiderheinze and Sandra Kiriasis.
For decades, BORBET has been one of the world's leading manufacturers of lightweight metal wheels. In 1962, Peter Wilhelm Borbet founded today's company headquarters in Hallenberg-Hesborn with just five employees. Today, BORBET supplies the entire automobile industry.
At present, the BORBET GROUP family has grown to around 3,800 employees at eight locations in Germany and abroad. Originally founded in 1881 in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Altena, this family company has crafted lightweight metal wheels since 1977 and is recognised the world over as specialist for the highest quality aluminium wheels. BORBET is a well-known and popular brand in the specialised trade. The BORBET product palette incorporates around 2,000 different lightweight metal wheel options, from eye-catchingly racy and dynamic to more noble, classic looks.
From the styling concept to construction to freshly painted wheels, everything happens under the same roof at BORBET. Modern manufacturing techniques that always include the latest technology, a tightly organised quality assurance system, and last but not least dedicated employees have helped BORBET to reach this market position. Besides BORBET GmbH in Hesborn, an additional lightweight metal wheel production plant has been operating in the neighbouring town of Medebach since 1998.
Over the years, the following subsidiaries have joined the family:
BORBET Austria GmbH in Ranshofen, Austria; BORBET Alabama, Inc. in Auburn, USA; BORBET Solingen GmbH in Solingen,Germany; BORBET Thüringen GmbH in Bad Langensalza, Germany; BORBET S.A.
