With colour tuning, the base coat is partially removed by turning the wheel: either as a ring segment or over the entire surface. After the coloured primer, if necessary this is coated again in black or grey and the base coat applied. Mechanical turning exposes the areas desired, which are subsequently sealed with clear lacquer.
