BORBET RECEIVES CERTIFICATION FROM THE ALUMINIUM STEWARDSHIP INITIATIVE (ASI).
BORBET has been successfully certified to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard in sustainable production, sourcing and management of aluminium with a focus on material stewardship.
This marks a real milestone for BORBET: the company is now internationally the only OEM wheel manufacturer to be ASI certified. The Port Elizabeth site is also the first in Southern Africa to be ASI certified, independent of the industry.
Margot Borbet, CEO of BORBET GmbH: "We are very pleased to receive ASI certification as it perfectly complements our commitment to aligning high quality with our environmental, social and ethical standards."
The ASI, a global non-profit organisation, has set itself the goal of creating more sustainability and transparency along the entire aluminium value chain for the responsible use of aluminium as a raw material. For that purpose, a standard was developed that defines all steps from bauxite mining to aluminium processing and recycling, and in this context monitors and certifies compliance with ecological and social aspects.
As a metal processing company, BORBET takes its responsibility very seriously and has been increasing the efficiency of material use since the beginning. This is achieved through a design that is improved by a life cycle analysis - using special production techniques, a comprehensive system for recycling process waste and a recycling strategy at the end of the product´s use.
BORBET is currently actively facing up to the ecological challenges with further projects and is thus making its contribution to the sustainable production of quality light alloy wheels "Made by BORBET".
