Chamber of Industry and Commerce Advanced Training Councils met at Borbet GmbH

Advance training with new concepts still on the rise
Hallenberg-Hesborn. A positive summary of the activities of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Training Institute in the year 2007 was delivered by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Advanced Training Councils for the Hochsauerland and Soest regions at this year’s spring meeting at Borbet GmbH in Medebach. The council members had been invited by the fellow council member and personnel officer
Peter Kemper, who welcomed the advisers on behalf of the company owner Peter W. Borbet, presented an account of the enterprise and led the members through production.

IHK-meeting at BORBET

Martin Krengel, acting partner of WEPA Papierfabrik P. Krengel GmbH & Co.KG and
Chairman of the council for the Hochsauerland region, was markedly impressed by the rapid devlopment of the company over the past few years and the high technical standard. “Borbet is an example for many “silent stars,” of which there are quite a few in the Hochsauerland and Soest regions,” claims Martin Krengel. “A fundamental pillar of this success was not least the associated qualification measures and long-term personnel development strategy.” That’s why Borbet is also an ideal host for the advance training meeting of the advisors, since it sets an excellent example in all issues surrounding training and advanced training.

And advanced training is in demand again in the entire chamber district and thus in the Hochsauerland and Soest regions. Correspondingly, the managing director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Training Institute, Franz-Josef Hinkelmann, was able to present gratifying figures to the council members. A growth of 7.6% in events and 16.5% in participants demonstrates that advanced career training is still on the rise in the chamber district. This is substantiated by a survey of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Training Institute, according to which 50% of all businesses would like to expand their advanced training activities. Only 1% wanted to reduce their advanced training efforts. “Businesses are regarding advanced vocational training more and more as a strategic competitive factor, but also as an “existential necessity” in order to brace themsleves against the looming shortage of qualified personnel,” says Franz-Josef Hinkelmann.

The fact that the training cheque is an essential aid for businesses also became apparent. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce Training Institute alone issued around 30% of all the training cheques in the chamber district and provided around 26% of all the counselling. That makes the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Training Institute the leader in the region. Furthermore, Hinkelmann was able to report to the council members that many of the projects decided on by the advisory council, such as the customer satisfaction analysis, the cooperation with Malik Management Zentrum St. Gallen, the establishment of a  „personnel development forum“ and the opening up of a new business segment, “external personnel development” could be realized. “Therefore, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Training Institute is on the right path in terms of the resolved reorientation “from being a training provider to becoming a training service provider”,” summarizes Martin Krengel.
