Michael Wellenzohn new BORBET CEO

Hallenberg-Hesborn (8th November 2022) - Michael Wellenzohn will become CEO of BORBET, one of the leading manufacturers of light alloy wheels, on 1st January 2023. 


Michael Wellenzohn is the first non-family CEO in the company's history. He succeeds Margot Borbet. She had held this position since 2019 and will in future be at the head of the supervisory board, the board of trustees of the BORBET Foundation.


Most recently, the new BORBET CEO was a member of the board of Deutz AG for nine years, before which he was managing director at ThyssenKrupp Presta Steering for 18 years. He has many years of international experience in the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors. In addition, he has been a member of the board of trustees of the BORBET Foundation for one and a half years.

With seven production sites and 4,250 employees, BORBET is one of the leading manufacturers of light alloy wheels worldwide. The main plant has been located in Hallenberg-Hesborn/Hochsauerland region since 1962. The supervisory board of BORBET GmbH is the BORBET foundation, whose chairwoman is Margot Borbet.

BORBET IMPLEMENTS SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS

In Medebach (North Rhine-Westphalia), we replaced the conventional HQI lighting in other areas with LED lamps last year. The replacement represents a small building block in BORBET's sustainability strategy.

BORBET USES WASTE HEAT

All BORBET sites have launched initiatives to reduce energy consumption. The use of waste heat at our melting furnaces was particularly successful. Burner air preheating was successfully introduced at the sites, where hot exhaust gas is passed through a heat exchanger to return energy to the burners.

BORBET has a wide range of wheels for vehicles with alternative drive systems. It is therefore only logical that the focus is now also increasingly being placed on sustainability in the company's own fleet.
