NIGHT SHIFT FOR PROSPECTIVE JUNIOR STAFF MEMBERS

On 2 March, BORBET Thüringen opened the doors of its training workshop to interested young people.

As one of eight companies from Bad Langensalza, BORBET Thüringen initiated the "Night of the Professions". The young people travelled from company to company in specially organised buses to gain an on-site insight into various sectors with a wide range of apprenticeship occupations.

"We realised that classic training and job fairs are no longer enough. That's why, together with the other companies, we came up with a format in which the young people come directly to us," says Norman Fell, head of training at BORBET Thüringen, describing the aim of the campaign.

After a welcome and a short introduction in the foyer of the administration, apprentices of the wheel manufacturer led the participants through the running production to the training workshop. There, a total of around 170 young people and their parents learned about the many different apprenticeship professions offered by the largest employer in the region. Trainers and apprentices used practical examples to present the various fields of activity: from electronics and tool mechanics to industrial clerks and IT specialists, there was something for everyone.

Many of the potential trainees signed up for a factory tour afterwards to learn more about the company. "We are optimistic that we will be able to win over one or two young people for an apprenticeship in industry," Fell sums up the event positively. A repetition and expansion of the format are very likely.
