YOUR WORK DAY
07:00 a.m.
I collect my assignments from my supervisor and review the weekly schedule to determine what is planned for the day.
07:30 a.m.
I prepare my respective workplace, be it the engraving machine, the lathe or my manual workstation. All tools are carefully gathered and laid out.
08:00 a.m.
I start by maintaining the various parts of a mould. I remove aluminium residue or replace screws.
09:00 a.m.
Break.
09:30 a.m.
After the break, it's off to the lathe. There, I have to turn the bushings to the desired length. Once this is done, I insert them and measure again to make sure everything is correct.
11:00 a.m.
The upper part of the mould can now be engraved. I clamp it onto the machine, obtain the relevant drawing from our programmers and start the engraving process.
12:00 p.m.
Lunch break. Another colleague takes over for me.
12:30 p.m.
I return to the machine and measure the depth of the engraving between each pass.
02:00 p.m.
The engraving is done and I am now checking each individual engraving with another employee. We enter our results in a checklist.
03:30 p.m.
I will now begin tidying up my workspace. All tools and measuring instruments will be returned to where I found them.
03:50 p.m.
Time to knock off work!
